About

The blog’s name is essentially my own name.  Online services caution would-be bloggers to identify carefully their blogs’ niche or purpose and to try out descriptive names to test public levels of interest: too narrow and esoteric, and you will draw very few followers; too general, and people won’t be able to find you among the myriad internet offerings.  But this blog does not have a subject.  As you can see, I rejected the professionals’ sensible approach, for the simple reason that I don’t know where this blog will take me; the only subject is my interests, wherever they lead.

The subtitle “About People, Feelings and Ideas” is taken from the subtitle of a family newsletter, The Cracker Barrel, published for many years – on real paper, mailed via the US Postal Service – by my (great)uncle Bob Rhoades.   If I can bring half the humor and humanism to this blog that he did to that paper, and to all who knew him, I will be thrilled.
